So it's recess week here (mid-semester break) and I headed to Penang, Malaysia with Caitlin who is also from Wellington, New Zealand. Some of the attractions pictured here include Khoo Kongsi clanhouse, Kek Lok Si temple, Penang Botanic Gardens and where I think might have been Acheen St Mosque...
Sentosa Island
It amuses me how the third photo looks like it is a zoom-out of the second, despite the fact they were taken in two different locations - it's obviously just my photo taking pose. The first is of the 'cable car' (really it's a gondola) view on the way to Sentose. The second is a dragon sand-sculpture near the island entrance and later one on Siloso Beach. The last is taken at sunset heading back over the water. As for the things we did today I would recommend the 3D log ride but not the pirates show. Also, if you happen to be sitting by the windows of Modesto's Italian Restaurant in Vivocity at around 9pm, you should be able to see the Crane Dance at Sentose Resort from your seat. Thanks very much to my cousin Allan for taking me around!
Lau Pa Sat
Feb 6 is Waitangi Day in New Zealand so to celebrate I headed to Lau Pa Sat, a famous hawker centre housed in a cast iron old Victorian building in the heart of Singapore CBD. During the night the whole of Boon Tat street south of Lau Pa Sat is blocked off and tables set up for dining. Amazing satay and waterfront views!
