On Thursday I went to visit my Aunty who lives in central Toa Payoh. From her doorstep you can look down and see the main Toa Payoh strip which is essentially a pedestrian mall selling cheap sandals, household goods, toiletries, clothes, hot food as well as fresh tropical fruit. So all the essentials really, and it stays open late (by New Zealand standards) into the night which is a bonus.
